You, like most of the other nations in your school's Nations Club have become terrified of a certain Russian named Ivan. He was extremely tall and intimidating, always trying to 'become one' with the other nations in the club. Alfred has planted many rumours into your mind, and you sadly you began to believe them.
"Hey! ___! Dude!" You heard your loud American friend yell.
"Hey Alfred. How was the meeting?" You asked looking up at him.
"None of the other nations like my idea of a hero, again." Alfred stated sadly. "Why weren't you there?"
"Aw, poor hero." You mockingly cooed. "And I had to finish up Science homework last night." A bell then rang in the distance. "Shit, I got to get to Science. I'll see you in History!"
"Bro! Watch out for Ivan!" The American warned as you ran down the hall.
You ran down the hall, all the way to the Science wing of your school. You couldn't afford to be late for science again, or your teacher would chew you out for sure. Your teacher was giving out partners for your culminating project today and hopefully by getting on her good side you could work with one of your friends. You barely just made it to the door, but the bell rung. You groaned and hung your head as you sadly opened the door. All eyes in your science class were on you as you blushed and awkwardly took your seat near the back of the science class.
"Miss ____, you're late." Your teacher scolded.
"I realize, Mrs. Roan." You mumbled under your breath.
"As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted." She sneered, glaring at you. "You may have the whole period to go and research your project. They'll be due Monday." She stated before walking to her desk and fiddling with her laptop.
"I, uh-Mrs. Roan. I don't know who my partner is!" You said raising your hand trying to get her attention, but every other person in your class was making to much noise for your teacher to hear you.
"Don't worry ____, I know who your partner is." You froze in your seat recognizing the thick Russian accent.
"Uh-R-Really w-w-who?" You stuttered turning in your seat to face the tall Russian.
"Da, it is me." He smiled.
"Oh." You stated terrified, as he pulled a chair up by your desk.
"What do you want to do the project on?" He asked his violet eyes held a happy gleam.
"I am not sure do you have any ideas?" You asked nervously try not to look directly in his eyes.
"Da, I do. Why don't you come over to my house tonight and we can work on it." He offered.
"Uh-I don- I , uh sure." You nervously laughed.
"Great, I'll see you at 6 PM da?" He asked handing you a piece of paper.
"Yeah, 6." You confirmed with a forced smile as you look towards the violet eyed man, his smile grew widely as he turned to walk away his pink scarf flowing behind him.
Shit, Alfred's going to freak you thought to yourself.
You nervously looked down the small piece of lined paper, trying to confirm that you were at the right house. You looked the large home in front of you, you noticed the bright yellow sunflowers that were by the front walk, which gave the house a beautiful splash of colour against the dull grey bricks. You cautiously walked up to the door, ringing the door bell once. The door immediately opened, revealing a pretty blonde with a glare that could kill.
"Who are you?" She sneered.
"I am here to see Ivan." You stated.
"You're here to take my big brother away from me aren't you!" She yelled at you taking out a knife.
"What? No-I, uh I am not!" You retorted.
"Natalia! She is here for a science project not to take me away!" You heard a deep voice say from behind Natalia.
"Big brother marry me!" The blonde yelled.
"Come on ____, let's go around back." Ivan said as he brushed by Natalia and grabbed your hand in his gloved one as he led you around back.
"Your sister wants to marry you?" You asked confused.
"Da, can we please not talk about it?" He asked coldly.
"Sorry, I brought it up." You mumbled as he finally pulled you around back, where you saw a large blanket on the ground with a collection of bowls filled with clear liquid. "What's all this?" You asked as Ivan let go of your hand.
"Our science project da?" He smiled sitting on the blanket, the sky was dark with a few star twinkling in the autumn night. "Just watch." He smiled.
He began to pour two of the small glass cups of the transparent liquid into a large bowl, as soon as the two liquids mixed they emitted a beautiful aqua glow. He proceeded to do the same with the other glass cups and bowls until the whole outer edge of the blanket was covered in glowing bowls of liquid.
"How did you do that?" You asked astonished.
"It's a little secret da?" He laughed, as he leaned back on his arms. "Aren't the stars beautiful?" He asked gazing up at the sky.
"Yeah they're, all those days watching from the windows, all that time outside looking in." You smiled pulling your knees to your chest to escape the cold that was now nipping at you, another gust if wind blew causing you to shiver.
"You're cold, da?" Ivan asked looking at you.
"It's fine-" You were cut off by something being draped around your shoulders, you looked down to see a large pink scarf. "T-Thanks Ivan." You nervously said.
Rumour about him being a cruel person, false.
All that time, I never even knew how blind I've been you thought to yourself. He seems to be a caring person.
For the next little while, you and Ivan sat under the stars talking and getting to know one another. You learned that he lives with three of his cousins, his older sister, and creepy younger sister.
"_____?" Ivan asked.
"Yeah?" You smiled turning to face him.
"Do you hate me?" He questioned sadly.
"No! I don't hate you!" You protested.
"Da, it's okay if you do everyone else seems to." He sounded like he was on the verge of crying.
"Ivan, I-" You didn't know what to say, you were at a loss for words.
"Why does everyone hate me?" He asked, looking at you with tears in his eyes.
"I don't know. Maybe because they don't know the real you." You smiled reaching out to touch his hand.
He is sad? Rumours about him being a sociopath. False. You thought to yourself as you blinked in the starlight. This is where I am meant to be you smiled.
"Ivan, I just want you to know, I don't hate you. I don't believe those rumours anymore." You smiled.
All the rumours and lies were out the window. It was like the fog of lies had been cleared by a beacon of truth.
You looked over at the many bowls of colourful light which illuminated the blanket, your perception of him is a new one, a warm one, a bright one. A real one.
All at once everything looks different now that I see you, you smiled as you looked over at Ivan, the tears now dried. His beautiful violet eyes starring straight at you, his face had been illuminated by one of the glowing bowls of liquid.
"Ivan?" You said trying to get his attention.
"Da ____?" He asked turning to face you on the blanket. You immediately tackled him in a hug.
"I am so sorry." You apologized as his arms wrapped around you.
"For what my little sunflower?" You blushed at the nickname.
"I believed those rumours, I should never have believed them. You are nothing like they said you were." You apologized into his chest.
"It's okay my little sunflower, I understand." He stated holdng you in his arms. "For some days now I have been chasing down a day dream, it was like the days have gone by in a blur."
"What?" You asked letting go of Ivan and sitting up to face him.
"For a while now I've liked you ____, but I know that American guy has been telling you stuff about me da?" He confessed, your eyes widened as you tried to process what he just said.
"All at once everything is different, now that I see you Ivan." You smiled. He returned the smile and leaned down to kiss you softly on the lips, butterflies filled your stomach as you returned the kiss.
"You become one with Mother Russia?" He asked as he broke the kiss.
"What?" You asked horrifide.
"I am just joking. You'll become my sunflower da?" He smiled.
"Yes of course!" You laughed attacking him in another hug. He laughed and kissed the top of your head.
"Now that I see you." He smiled to himself as he held you in his arms under the starry night.
